I got to know this sweet little guy’s mommy and daddy at a maternity session over the summer and I was so excited to be doing his newborn photos too.
As I always do, I instructed mommy to turn the heat up to 82 degrees about 30 minutes prior to my scheduled arrival and keep baby awake for about two hours (if possible…two hours is a long time for him to stay awake when he’s been up all night long). I left my house about 40 minutes prior to the session (plenty of time to get to baby’s home). But as soon as I got on 485 I found a major traffic jam. Traffic was barely moving at all. We were pretty much parked. In the end, I was on 485 for at least an hour and a half and when I finally arrived, baby was wide awake. Mom had followed my instructions and kept him awake for two hours. By the time 9:30 came around (our scheduled start time), he couldn’t stay awake any longer and had enjoyed a nice nap by the time I got there at 11.
We started by getting some cute awake shots. He has the most beautiful big brown eyes and lashes that go on for miles. Seriously, I’ve never seen a baby with lashes this long…AMAZING! After some time, and lots of extra cuddles and feedings with mom, he got sleepy again and we got those adorable sleepy shots. It takes time and patience but they all eventually succumb and nod off to dream land. Here are my favorites from this gorgeous little boy’s newborn session.
